A Trip to Keel and Curley Winery for Jerm and the Crew...

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 by Partner Pulse
Wine at Keel & CurleyHello there guys! Jerm here with some Tampa bay dining related news.

I must admit, that I am not much of a wine drinker, so when I was talked into taking a trip to Plant City for a wine tasting at Keel & Curley Winery, I did have my reservations.

In addition to not liking wine that much, I thought the drive was just going to be so long and given it was the end of the day, I would be even more tired than normal.

Oh how I love to be proven wrong though, as I was on this occasion in both regards! First off let me talk about how quick and easy the drive was. Its actually Just off of exit 17 at Branch Forbes Road right off of I-4, which was not a great distance at all from our offices. When we pulled up, I was really expecting to see a huge warehouse type building full of thousands of wine, you know something not very inviting.

Again though I was proved wrong, as its not just a place for wine, but also a place for happy hours, weddings, and other events! If that isn't too your liking, then just take a date or some friends and go hang out at the bar inside the tasting room and sample some of the tastiest wines around! Every Friday on the outside patio, in partnership with Fresco's Bakery & Bistro they offer Wine and Dine for only $49! That gets you a bottle of wine, 2 salads, 2 entrees and a dessert!

We sampled a number of wines, so much so, that I was feeling pretty good by the time we left. But I couldn't stay away from the Blueberry taste for long, as I actually bought two bottles of wine for the road (Don't worry , I wasn't driving)! Remember earlier I told you that I don't really even like wine, but I am officially a new customer.

Just when I thought I didn't need another reason to love this place, what did I see? In addition to wine, the atmosphere of a country store reminds me of home, as they have many of the items that a country boy like me from Mississippi would love, like Sweet Pickles, BBQ Sauces, Blueberry Pancake Mixes, and so much more! Next time Mama Jerm visits me from home, we'll have to take a ride out to Plant City and see the gang at Keel and Curley.

I could ramble on for days about this place though, but I'll go ahead and cut this one short! So that its folks, it was a great trip! Be sure to head out to  Keel & Curley to spend some time on the beautiful, spacious deck and enjoy the county air and be sure to sample some of Florida's #1 wine! Spend an enjoyable afternoon tasting, shopping or just relaxing at Keel & Curley Winery!

Be sure to check back in for updates from us on Keel & Curley and things to do in Tampa Bay!

South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers (SWFBUD) Bicycle Bash is moving to the next level!

Wednesday, August 25, 2010 by Tampa Bay & Company
Hi guys... Julian back again with even more news for you: In 2010, SWFBUD's popular Bicycle Bash is moving to the next level -- and a new home, Flatwoods County Park in Hillsborough County on Nov. 7, the first Sunday in November. Click Here for a map to the location on Morris Bridge Road off Interstate 75 outside Tampa.

The 2010 Bicycle Bash Classic, Presented by Cure on Wheels will continue to feature its fun bicycle exhibitor/vendor village -- but this year the bicycle festival will also include live bicycle riding in Flatwoods Park outside Tampa.

The synergy of bicycle exhibitors and bicycle activities is designed to get people excited about biking and increase the profile of bicycling in the Tampa Bay market -- two of SWFBUD's goals. The Flatwoods venue for bicycling is among the most scenic for cycling in Florida, offering activities for both road bicyclists and mountain bikers.

This year's Bicycle Bash -- now in its fifth year -- will also host the Cure on Wheels charity bike ride, which raises money for local cancer research. For the second consecutive year, SWFBUD and the Bicycle Bash is proud to have Cure on Wheels as the presenting sponsor for the Bicycle Bash festival.

SWFBUD (South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers) is an alliance of nine Tampa Bay
area retail bike dealers and two lawyers who hold the annual Bicycle Bash event to
celebrate bicycling and grow cycling in the Tampa Bay region. SWFBUD also lobbies local governments throughout the year to commit more resources to bicyclists.

SWFBUD will be partnering with Hillsborough County for this year's Bicycle Bash, as
Hillsborough County will serve as a co-sponsor. SWFBUD is also partnering with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, which will help promote and market the Bicycle Bash Classic, Presented by Cure on Wheels.

If you want to be a vendor or sponsor at the 2010 Bicycle Bash Classic, Presented by
Cure on Wheels, contact Alan Snel at alansnel@yahoo.com.

A Day at The Tampa Bay History Center...

Tuesday, August 3, 2010 by Bay Bloggers

Hey Tampa Bay, Alex here to tell you about my personal experience at The Tampa Bay History Center.

I began my day with a tour of the two story museum. I got to see all of the major exhibits, the gift shop and event space. This museum is filled with a plethora of information on Tampa’s historical chapters with interactive games and videos for children and adults.

After the tour, I then went back into the museum to view a few exhibits that interested me. First, I checked out Coacoochee’s Story Theater, which immerses viewers in the interesting account of Seminole Chief Coacoochee’s experiences during the Second Seminole War through videos and "Disney- like” dioramas.

I then headed over to Cigar City, which chronicles Tampa's cigar industry and immigrant communities while featuring one of the most extensive cigar memorabilia collections in the world. This section was my personal favorite.  Everything from the architectural design of Cigar City to the mini- videos on Ybor’s history and social life made me feel like I had taken a step into Tampa’s past.  I spent the majority of my time in this section because I was fascinated with the videos that took you back in time through research information and interviews with some of Tampa’s older locals.

I ended my visit with a café con leche and a "signature" 1905 salad at the Columbia Café. This is the perfect restaurant to have at Tampa’s History Center. Not only do you get to indulge in wonderful food, you get the feel of Tampa’s History through the restaurant’s decorations and menu.

Now, go head over to the Tampa Bay History Center to enjoy a great day of learning, fun and good food!

That's it for now, but stay tuned in for more updates on Arts and Culture in Tampa Bay!
